			<content type="html"><![CDATA[<p>Thanks to some help from Seth and Kestrel in IRC chat last night, I was able to get tint and trayer working.&nbsp; :) (Tip: It turns out that actually installing them first helps!)</p><p>This is what things look like at the moment:</p><p><span class="postimg"><img src="http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/334785/Desktop_2008-12-21.png" alt="http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/334785/Desktop_2008-12-21.png" /></span></p><p>I&#039;m planning on gathering all the material I can and tweaking the hell out of the whole systems look and feel over Xmas. I hope to have a really nice and complete theme by the end of the holidays!</p><p>For now though, how do I get the desktop switcher back? I can live without a calender, but I use multiple desktops a lot! They really help make the tiny Eee feel more expansive...</p>]]></content>

Okay, that first sentence was probably not much help, I will start again. :D The application required to style KDE applications will depend on the version of Qt as used by the application. As far as I know, <em>qtconfig-qt4</em> can be used to theme Qt4 applications, see also: <a href="http://crunchbanglinux.org/forums/topic/119/theming-vlc-and-other-qt4-applications-under-openbox/">http://crunchbanglinux.org/forums/topic &#133; r-openbox/</a></p><p>I am not too sure about applications which use prior versions of Qt. 			<content type="html"><![CDATA[<p>Hmm, I just installed my first KDE app (I&#039;m going to want a few of these). I can live with the KDE look and feel on these apps, but I&#039;m going to need to resize the text. It&#039;s all rather large-print, and I don&#039;t have that much screen space.</p><p>I&#039;ve tried to launch various things from the menu, like <em>kde4-config</em> and <em>kde4-menus</em>, but nothing does anything. </p><p>Any clues?</p>]]></content>

sudo apt-key add array-apt-key.asc
sudo apt-get update</code></pre></div><p>The Grub is an easy fix:</p><div class="codebox"><pre><code>gksu gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst</code></pre></div><p>Near the top you&#039;ll see a line that looks like &#039;default&nbsp; &nbsp; 0&#039;. (If there is a # symbol at the beginning of the line, delete the # to un-comment the line.) Change this number to the position on the Grub menu for the kernel you want, starting from 0. For example if the eeepc kernel is number 4 on the list, change the line to &#039;default 3&#039;.</p><p>(the reason it does this is that Crunchbang uses 2.6.27-9 but the latest eeepc kernel is 2.6.27-8, so it assumes you want the &quot;newer&quot; kernel)</p><p>ps I like wicd as well, definitely worth a try if you aren&#039;t getting good results with network manager.</p>]]></content>

Importantly though, it works! I&#039;ll know If I have a bigger problem down the road, I guess.</p><p>I&#039;d like to figure out how to change the grub default though. You can add the key somehow to stop the warning but I can&#039;t remember exactly how of the top of my head.</p><p>You don&#039;t have to scroll down every time on boot either, you can set the lean kernel to be the default.... somehow! I think it&#039;s there within the grub manager.</p><p>Not a lot of help am I! ;) Fret not, someone here will know. If not, I&#039;ll look it up!!</p><p>Edit: ah, yes, wireless. Don&#039;t pay too much attention to signal strength, it&#039;s performance that will be the decider. I&#039;m using the lean kernel and wifi performance&nbsp; is good despite a signal strength of 57%. I found, with Ubuntu 8.10 + lean kernel, that switching to the wicd network manager and changing the broadcast channel on my router gave better performance. I&#039;ve not had to do that with CrunchBang however! :D</p>]]></content>
