Resurrecting this thread.

I can't get the Debian menu to work in my Openbox menu. I uncommented the code in rc.xml, and I added the <menu id="Debian" /> to my menu.xml... nothing new shows up after an openbox --reconfigure. I tried removing all the code between the <menu id="root-menu"></menu> tags and adding the <menu id="Debian" /> to that, and i got an empty Openbox menu.

I can see all the generated menus in /var/lib/openbox/debian-menu.xml, so I know it's there... I just can't get it to display.

I am actually liking the debian menu! yes there is alot more to go through to get to what you want but on my laptop i am using shortkeys most of the time anyway to go into things. what i like about debmenu so far is that its showing me things i didn't know i had on here but i also either don't need or was wondering what was being used for it. i think personally i am going to continue using it for the moment.

used to method corenominal mentioned and backed up "menu.xml" as "menu.xml.backup."
then after backing it up deleted everything except first and last line and entered to line "<menu id="Debian" />" and it worked like a charm. going to be removing alot of things i know for a fact i do not need but some of this stuff is pretty cool lol.

NOTE: when i went to install menu using sudo apt-get install menu it told me was already installed.
