which means the two: Google Analytics & Google Custom Search Engine are not blocked.  :D

Sorry, you are right... the number only shows how many trackers are found. You have to enable blocking in the Ghostery preferences: firefox addons -> ghostery -> preferences -> blocking options.

I don't know what went wrong with Ghostery. I have most options enabled and most sites work perfect.
You can always whitelist a domain by clicking the Ghostery icon.
Maybe you have some addons that interfere with Ghostery?

In Ghostery I only disable Google(!) Adsense and Doubleclick. Most of the time I block these with Adblock anyway, except for some whitelisted sites like crunchbanglinux.org...

I have a question, I read the link provided by pablokal.  I have never signed up for any Google service, but by just using #! I have Google tracking me, by responding to people that use @gmail they have me in their database.

I have not signed up for any Google service and use none, other than their search engine.

Are they (of course they are) still collecting information on me?

I tried "ghostery addon" and all of a sudden a whole bunch of websites were not fully available to me and they looked strange with missing pieces, maybe I configured it wrong.  I know I freed the CB forums from all of those as I'd like to see corenominal get his slice of the pie for the advertising here - even if it does mean google analytics is on too.

Those first 14 points tell me it's not about "Privacy" it's about how they have everything on you.  More than most people can possibly imagine.  Take #14 - it's gobble-de-gook for: what information we have on you we can use any way we want.

There is NO PRIVACY on the net "they" have you three ways to Sunday and "they" share with everyone!

Many of you will have seen the new warning from Google about changed privacy rules.
Of course it is difficult to understand exactly what is happening, but what clear is that everything that is a Google service and collects data from you and your internet behavior , that from soon on all these data will be added an combined.

A simple way of preventing Google monitoring you,  while still using some Google services, is  that if you use Google services like gmail or blogger for example  to log out once you are finished with that service.

I am also worried about all the data collected by visiting non-google sites, where google is tracking you  by google ads or google analytics. I think only way to prevent this is use of ghostery addon.

If not for privacy, now I can watch BBC channels. :)

Edit: after some testing: only use it if you want to watch BBC channels from abroad... The free version of Anonymox is limited. And also... I don't like the way you have to configure it.

I would not recommend this for facebook users. After doing this, facebook.com told me it didn't support my browser, and recommended me to install Firefox.. :rolleyes:
