If you have a 1GB flash drive, try using the latest unetbootin with Statler. It worked great for me (one of the fastest installs I've ever done)

Upgrading from 9.04 (Ubuntu base) to Statler (Debian base) is likely to be problematic under the best of circumstances.  It's usually a much better idea to backup your personal data and any customized config files, do a clean install of Statler, then restore your data and configs.  This is because, among other things, there are significant differences in individual packages between Ubuntu and Debian.

Hi, I'm trying to upgrade from 9.04 on my asus eee, to crunchbang-10-alpha-02-openbox-i686. However the install is crawling along, 45 minutes and it was still detecting hardware (theres also an ~five minute lag between each stage)

The mdf5 sum is correct, I've tried my other external disc drive and re burnt the disc and I don't remember any problems installing 9.04 or kbuntu netbook.

Any help or advice would be appreciated :)
