I voted, but I can't figure out how some of the distros, all fine examples IMO, are losing to the hacker distro.....

I view KDE like I view snow. It looks fun and marvelous, it's fun to play in, but after a while I just want someone to take it all away.

Re: CrunchBang featured on Lifehacker

We're all losing to ubuntu in the poll, which is ridiculous. Ubuntu loses most of it's "ease-of-use" appeal in a portable situation, because that's not what you want in a portable situation.

Backtrack second is thoroughly deserved. BT is Ubuntu/Debian (I forget which) based now, but it's a fantastic tool, full of things you might want in a portable situation.

DSL always, for some reason, wins out over Puppy. People argue "it's 50MB!!" Yes, but your CD can hold 700, and your flash drive can hold multiple GB... If you want small and speedy, use Puppy or Slax. They're fast and minimal, but not so cut down you hate it, and Crunchbang is a full-featured distro, but runs like stink

I think that's ok. Ubuntu wins everything because of its huge user base and I'd wager that many of those users have never tried any other type of Linux. Of course we know what they are missing out on but in the long run it means more people using Linux which is ok by me smile

I have a gateway theory about this... Being myself an Ubuntu-user-become-CrunchBang-addict.

Voted and added a comment, too.
