Re: #! CrunchBang Linux Desktop Screenshots

Hi All,

I found the wallpaper while browsing around somewhere, but it was created by a guy on DeviantArt, AdonisWerther.

okay, i figure i should chime in with a screenshot. i am new to linux so it took me a couple days to figure out conky and tint2. still not completely satisfied but that is whats fun about it.

Very stylish! Since I like to fool around with Conky, I might use another font and black colour (or maybe some dark shade of grey?) and resize the conky window so that it resides totally on the skin of the reposing figure, almost like a tattoo maybe... Sorry for imposing my ideas like this, the nice greyscale wallpaper just inspires me (it's not particularly "sensual" even if it is a nude figure).

I never use smilies, but there are exceptions that prove the rule wink

I view KDE like I view snow. It looks fun and marvelous, it's fun to play in, but after a while I just want someone to take it all away.

Re: #! CrunchBang Linux Desktop Screenshots

New to #!, very excited! Been running Conky and Openbox with Linux Mint for a while so I was thrilled to discover an easy-to-use distro built on Openbox with multimedia support included.

I really like the nice clean simplicity that you can create with tint, and I have been learning a lot from following this thread, and the Conky threads in this forum; there are some very highly creative people on this board.

Re: #! CrunchBang Linux Desktop Screenshots

So, I cheated and went back to fluxbox (Ah flluxbox, my old standby.  It feels like home.)  I've tweaked the fonts in the darkmystic theme for my netbook.  The fonts may not look right on a full size screen, but they are perfect on my 10inch netbook.  I'm running xcompmgr but I've turned most transparencies off, with the notable except the menu. I'm using the standard fluxbox slit which is dock-able.  I'm still tweaking, but I'm liking it.

here's mine. I like the old school green on black. I used the blackgrass theme and tweaked some of the colours.

I like old school terminal colors as well, and I am an old Iron head as well.

If you want to turn that directory into a permanent fixture you could possibly remove the icons and set the window to undecorate.

@RalleyWolf

Love your wallpaper - that's on my mobile fone!  Any chance you can give me a link to it?  Thanks big_smile

Here's my screenshot anyway.  I promise I never pinched your idea Ralleywolf.  "Great minds think alike?" or "Fools seldom differ?"  Your call lol Not much changed from the original.  Being an old-skool old iron head I like (& remember - oops!) the terminals too.....

Edit:  How do I post images?  Never done it b4! Duh!

Edit: Still trying to change the rest of my fonts to #green!  Any help would be appreciated.

Here goes:

Many thanks to kbang & anonymous smile

Edit:  I've since borrowed RalleyWolf's idea of using black_grass.  RalleyWolf, how do you tweak the colours?  I wanna matchblack_grass with the colours on my desktop?  I do actually surf them web looking for the answers to some of my questions!  Mebbe the answers are still here in #! forums...

Edit again:  Probably no-one will read this but my screenshot thumbnail won't open!  Other #!ers using omploader will open.  Wot have i done wrong again?  I thought i followed kbang's instructions properly!

Re: #! CrunchBang Linux Desktop Screenshots

I've had #! for one day, and I think I found my sweet spot.  I'm surprised that none of the screenshots I've seen had what I did, an extension of the default #! look:

http://www.ipodtouchfans.com/forums/imgcache2/35659.png

What it is:
OpenBox
Default theme and wallpaper
Default panels, without desktop switcher
4 separate conky configs: pidgin buddies, shortcuts (#! default), system info (#! default with dropbox status appended), and VLC song info.

I'm posting this from my iPod touch, so I can't provide my conkyrc files, but if anyone wants them, I'll post them when I get back on my #!.

Re: #! CrunchBang Linux Desktop Screenshots

I've been tweaking this all weekend. Openbox theme is Breathe Royalty, GTK theme is Pepper Mono, edited  font colors on both, changed the font in everything to "It wasn't me", Icon Theme is Hydroxygen.

http://img58.imageshack.us/img58/8185/92748567.th.jpg http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/4446/67684287.th.jpg
#! is the most fun that I've had since the early days of WebTV smile

Now I need to make a MOC theme that isn't bugly ... if that is possible ...

Are we talking about this black grass (http://www.box-look.org/content/show.ph … ent=103023)? because in that case I could open the leafpad and gimp and do little tweaking for you. smile

o_O That's weird. I just tested it again and had no problem (copy+pasted from there).

Okey so I don't know if it makes any difference I added "solid" after flat and the part that defines the menu should look like this:

# Menus
menu.title.bg: Flat Solid
menu.title.bg.color: #2CD424
menu.title.text.color: #151515
menu.title.text.justify: center

menu.items.bg: Flat Solid
menu.items.bg.color: #151515
menu.items.text.color: #8f8f8f
menu.items.disabled.text.color: #c3c3c3

menu.items.active.bg: Flat Solid
menu.items.active.bg.color: #2CD424
menu.items.active.text.color: #151515
menu.items.active.disabled.text.color: #c3c3c3

#separator
menu.separator.color: #151515
menu.separator.width: 1
menu.separator.padding.width: 3
menu.separator.padding.height: 3

You should just copy/paste the entire themerc, Hanna.  If it fails then you know it isn't your theme.  Doesn't take up much more message space.  wink

http://omploader.org/tMWp1aw  http://omploader.org/tMWp1ag

Dark theme day.  My take on Grayscale's idea, though once the clock went to double digits the font crapped out with bad spacing....

Modded Hanna's Black Grass to be Gray, Eurostile font (found it in Vista's movie maker dir), SunFesta icons, gmusicbrowser.
