Topic: A roll-your-own #! script
I have seen this implemented in at least two distros, with varying degrees of success. Basically, you get a base system (a live CD), then remove the apps you don't want, install the apps you do want, and change configurations settings as you see fit, then make that system into a .iso, so you have a self-configured system, and you don't have to spend 2 hours or more configuring every fresh installation how you want it, you can just install from you own cd re-master. Also, you have a pre-configured cd system, so every time you boot off of the CD, it loads applications and settings as you want it to.
In Damn Small Linux, this is called a MyDSL re-master, and it is a fairly painless procedure. I was wondering if we could have anything like this, and, if someone has already made it, or it is included and I just haven't come across it, could you please link it or give the menu steps for making this?
It's not that I dislike the default apps, I just like custom setups, and some of them (like inkscape) I just never find myself using. Note that I'm not asking you to change the apps or settings for your CD, I just want to be able to make one more suited to my needs.
(No, I didn't make that, but it holds true, so I use it in my sig)
