Topic: [Solved] startup/shutdown in graphgical mode = nono

hi,

it seems CrunchBang follows the trends of every modern non-geeky "GNU/Linux for humans" - as expected of a Ubuntu based OS - and has both the bootup and the shutdown in graphical mode. now I can live with booting into a graphical DM, though I'm sceptical towards it - but booting/shutting down graphically is just not an option. I wanna see what's going on. thus I would like to boot/shut down "properly". any clues? if I can't boot into GDM this way - then so be it. I prefer starting the DM myself anyway.

Just edit /boot/grubgrub/menu.lst

And on kernel options line delete "splash" and you will boot/shut down "properly";)

ah so that's what splash is? never used that in grub as I've only ever edited grub.conf from scratch. this automagic stuff is new to me, heh. thanks smile
