Re: Transparency in menu

Have a look to: http://oliwer.net/xcompmgr-dana/
Has been patched to works nicely with conky and other apps (like idesk) wink, works well for me.

I just installed this and I still can't get conky and compositing to work.

Does anyone know if a deb has been put together for this update?

Re: Transparency in menu

How can I get transparency without xcompmgr or without changing to a different environment?

You can achieve window transparency with transset-df

This is a pretty cool implementation of it smile - http://crunchbanglinux.org/forums/topic … ed-window/

Re: Transparency in menu

So I guess you can't just add alpha to the color codes in GTK or Openbox themes?  (Of course not; we'd already see a lot of themes set this way if that were possible.)

while ( ! ( succeed = try() ) );

Re: Transparency in menu

Hi there

I followed this thread, but it seems that these tips doesn't work on Crunchbang Statler. Anyone there who could give a hint? I really dont want to use xfce...

In what way doesn't it work? How are you trying to use it and what method? xcompmgr? transset-df? Any error messages?

Re: Transparency in menu

Pardon me

I installed xcompmgr-mana, added the line

xcompmgr -cCfF -t-5 -l-5 -r4.2 -o.55 -D2 -m.86

to autostart.sh, but this didnt work, ditto when adding in alt+f2.

The file: /usr/bin/crunchbang/xcompmgr-crunchbang doesnt exist in Statler, in /usr/bin is no crunchbang directory.

I'd like to have transparent openbox menu, the right click menu on the desktop. Oh, I'd like further things as transparent dropdown menus in the applications :-)...

Transset-df does only transparency to the whole window, seems to be the same as over the usual command in the menu.

A further thing which would be very nice would be transparent bg in thunar, meaning, the icons nontransp., the bg transparent, but this is probably impossible, never saw that anywhere.

Sorry, i even dont know where to have the error output in crunchbang since I'm not very deep in linux (but want to become to...).

Run xcompmgr -cCfF -t-5 -l-5 -r4.2 -o.55 -D2 -m.86 in terminal and report back any error messages you get smile

Re: Transparency in menu

hm, now it worked! With transparent obmenu :-)... Thanxalot!
