Topic: Hello from LxH and DLF

Just want to congratulate you guys on a great community. I admin LXH and Dreamlinux Forums and like the way how your community is organised, friendly and very well thought out, just like the #! Crunchbang distro.

We have received a lot of hits for Borgio's review on LxH, so it seems that Crunchbang is doing something right. Keep up the good work!!!
LxH will certainly be promoting Crunchbang and it's community.

PS: Thanks omns for your Conky style ( I used it in my Conky Howto and linked back here )

PPS: What's the chance of the Crunchbang devs including b43 and madwifi wireless drivers, is there a strictly non-free policy?

Re: Hello from LxH and DLF

Welcome Rich.

I joined LxH last night and have not had a chance to look around, but it look like you have a very nice community as well. Thanks for the good remarks about #!. I look forward to contributing to LxH and reading your contributions here.

You did see that Skype is installed, right? To the bane of many in the Linux Outlaws community!

To be honest, like I said on the LO forums: "Personally, I don't use linux for a cause or a statement. I use it because it is one of the best operating system out there."

Hi omns, it's been a very long time since I frequented UF, I feel more at home in smaller communities. The larger forums are brilliant for finding solutions, but they gradually become more impersonal as they become larger.

Being as UF is a face for Canonical they have to have more stringent standards of moderation and control, which is great for a professional image, but not as much fun as the typical old-style Linux community. Members have to be more careful what they post and Moderators tend to be more strict.

This is something I made sure I avoided on both LxH and DLF, and although we are nowhere near the size of UF, we have never had any problems with a lighter moderation style. In fact many members comment on how much they enjoy that style. Sometimes you just have to give people the benefit of the doubt and see how it goes.

I've spent a while now (before signing up) reading through the posts on this forum, and that is what made me sign up. I'm getting a bit fussy over which forums I join in my old age Lol! smile

I like this distro more and more each day big_smile

I will be posting about Madwifi and Ath5k in another thread, because for some reason, after I installed  Crunchbang, I managed to connect to the internet with ath5k by manually configuring the wireless connection.
