Topic: puts "Hi!"
Hi #! community. Or in my native tongue: HOWDY Y'ALL!
For the past year I've been distro-hopping and would certainly consider myself a member of "distro-hoppers anonymous." Decent bandwidth, cheap discs, and unetbootin all make for a lot of trial, error, learning, frustration, and all the other things that go with GNU/Linux.
I was just about to hunker down with Debian when I came across Statler and fell in love. I especially like the --first-run script, which gives the OPTION of installing OpenOffice, developer tools, etc.
I would consider myself "advanced" in the ways of the penguin, but I hate bloated distros and don't want to spend hours getting flash, codecs, wireless, and bluetooth all setup.
I see #! as a combination of all the good things about all the best distros:
Close to the upstream (Debian)
Lightweight & Customizable (Arch & Slackware)
non-free "goodness" (Mint)
Works out of the box & up to date (Ubuntu & Fedora)
I'm a senior undergraduate at Texas Tech University dual-majoring in computer science & electrical engineering.
I've been looking for a way to contribute back to the OSS community and plan to through Debian/#!
