unable to connect to guest network on campus

hey there crunchbangers, i just found a strange bug, while i am at school i cannot connect to the OPEN guest wifi when i can at home (using the apartments OPEN wifi). any thoughts on what could be the cause of this? i would really like to fix that as i use the internet at school (had used windows/ubuntu before) but i don't want to use either of those anymore. any ideas are helpful, thanks!
