again i got kicked out to the login screen while doing absolutely nothing bad
Perhaps you're pressing Super(Windows)+x when you mean to press Control+x for "cut"? or Control+c for "copy"? I know my Windows key is tiny compared to my control and alt key and I'm lucky I haven't made this mistake.
It also happen to me without any particular reason. And I didn't mix up the buttons because my control button is not next to my super button. Any help?
i know the shortcut for W-x and i use it but that's not the case for this because when i W-x i get the popup window
in here it just randomly kicks me out, no window no nothing
If your computer overheats I think most system will halt/shutdown without warning as a safty precaution. This has happened to me on old computeres where dust have maybe accumulated on the airvent/cooling system. Cleaning thoose and remebering to not block the cooling vents will maybe solve you problem?
Try monitoring the temp. I think you can use something like sudo apt-get install lm-sensors for this
i am monitoring it and i also have a cooler on at all times ![]()
alexander,
Does the machine shut down/reboot or just log-out back to the GDM screen?
A shut-down would most likely be a thermal issue but just logging out could be a graphics driver or Xorg problem.
