Hey anonymous, sorry to see you go as well but I do understand. Hopefully I'll still see you around the traps at Arch or DeviantArt somewhere.
I'll be interested to see who takes our places. I'm sure it will be someone wonderful and balance will return to the force
Anyway, thanks for being there side by side for the last 3 years. We never chatted much but somehow it all seemed to just work
Nice interview
Openbox was definitely the way to go. Xfce is a great environment but for sheer fun and tinkerability, it's hard to go past Openbox

Now I'm not confused anymore. The interwebz has come full circle.
Let me see if I can mix things up for you again

@bobobex, I'm well aware that the way I manage my online content is not perfect but taking into account your words of advice I've edited the original article and re-published it here http://omnsandlinux.blogspot.com/2011/1

Thank you for the kind words re my time here
Hello all,
Today I’ve requested that I be removed as a moderator of these forums. My commitment here has been very on and off for some time and I think it’s fairer to all if I just move on as it effects my objectivity when working with the project. I have enjoyed my time immensely with CrunchBang and hope it goes from strength to strength. For now though my commitments (outside of Linux) lie elsewhere and this is the best way to get on with that.
If you feel like saying hello, the place I tend to hang out most these days is on Google+ at my personal profile, my blogs Google+ page or of course at my blog
Happy sailing all, it’s been a blast
I've considered my feedback in this blog post some more and concluded that it may not have been entirely objective. While the criticisms were valid perhaps that they were written in a slightly subjective mindset. In the interests of fairness I've removed this review from my blog. It's a little Orwellian of me I know but that is the way of things.
Sorry to post this a day early. Post here or in the November thread until December 1. Whatever rocks your boat

Please continue to use thumbnails (please try to avoid the large thumbnail imgur.com code) linking to the larger image to help those of us with slow connections. An example of the code needed is below. Most image hosting sites will automatically generate this for you as well. I've been using postimage.org lately which does a nice job.

Some time in 2013
I made a small edit to the bottom of this blog post. I hope it clarifies things a bit more.
In any case the c’est bon, c’est la vie rule applies.

Thanks.
It means the kernel is from the backports repo.
@rhowaldt. I wouldn't spend to much energy on this one. caeing appears every 6 months or so, imparts and argues his subjective wisdom then leaves. It will be the same pattern this time. I'd suggest not engaging with it.
It would be useful if problems and issues could be raised in separate support threads. Some of the valuable problem solving in this thread will be lost in the pages of feedback on the new release.

Yes, that does seem fairly minor o_0
A little off-topic but I can't tell you how much I've fallen in love with this little application (FocusWriter). Maybe it's the little typewriter sounds as you type or that it takes over the screen and removes distractions like your web apps open in the panel. It's probably a combination of those and the nice theme/configuration options.
In any case it's brilliant. I'd highly recommend it to someone doing a lot of writing. Many nanowrimo participants swear by it
Sorry, couldn't resist

I posted a link in your other thread
The torrent you are after is http://crunchbanglinux.org/downloads/st

I just tested it and it is still going strong
Sector11 wrote:It's also the second time he's left #! in as many months.
That's not quite true. I haven't used CrunchBang as my main distro since before the release of Statler. It usually just runs in a virtualbox. This was the first actual install I've done in quite a while. Perhaps the perception that I do use it is a testament to the amount of support I've had (and still maintain) for the distro. There's a difference between feedback/criticism and abandonment. In my defence, corenominal did ask me for feedback when it was released.
el_koraco wrote:I wouldn't recommend Fedora to someone not comfortable with Linux either
lolz, I can't argue with that
@VastOne. I don't think there's much wrong with a bit of objective criticism. If no one raises an issue and blindly accepts shortcomings then open source has a bleak future. As you've surmised, the commentary isn't aimed at users like yourself who can quickly correct any issues that may arise. My feedback is aimed at users who install, upgrade and break something like their new video drivers or as in my case a few months ago - apt. Backports is great but it should be used with caution and with being made aware of the consequences. Much like using the Liquorix kernels. User beware.
In that article I say
Yes, of course it’s still a wonderful distro and it always has my support
I stand by that
koleoptero wrote:@omns: How is the fedora xfce? Is it xfce-like or overloaded like the mint one?
No it's pretty much just Xfce but with the usual Fedora system tools thrown in. I haven't looked at it closely but it's fast and works well.
I don't think you can call the Ubuntu or Mint versions - Xfce. They are more like a Xfce/Gnome hybrid imo
@ivanovnegro, it looks like my old friend Xfce to me
Fedora 16 Xfce Spin
