The LibreOffice final has just been released. It seems to support many different languages and comes with some handy changes from OpenOffice.org (pdf import, Presenter View, etc). I'll definetly give it a try.
I prefer the latest stable version of an Office Suite (OOo or Libre Office) instead of the statler default. There are some nice new features added, why live without them?

Other than the web browser, I don't use any GUI apps on my netbook, in fact. I don't even have any gtk2-engines or icon themes installed (I run Chrome/Chromium with the artist themes). I still prefer a floating OpenBox setup for my desktop/workstation.
Yes, I use Urxvt for my term color-schemes. Also edit some CLI apps' theme files to get what I want sometimes.
This thread should get you started on the URxvt Xdefaults colors.

Also, when selecting your term color-scheme, this site is helpful if you aren't versed in color-theory.

When selecting a color, I recommending starting with the blue, since it's often the most muted color of the lot.
Cheers.
Thanks! This is great! I found some interesting links by stalking you a bit and looking for your previous posts.
I'll try out ranger and probably sup or any other (possibly easy to configure) mail program.
This is my desktop. I'm using scotwm on both my machines right now to accelerate the learning process. Never thought that a tiling WM could be that fun on a 24"!

Damn nice setup. Soothing wallpaper as well.
ACYL icons work fine on my Statler r20101205 Openbox setup, btw.
Meh ... went back to dark.

Really nice! I've been playing around with scrotwm lately and found your countless contributions to the screenshot threads. I must say, I love almost all of them.
How do you create those color themes? I assume you aren't using many GUI programs and your urxvt config takes care of the comprehensive look?
I think your right - I could never understand why the debian packages of one of the greatest opensource projects are that old. Really annoying. It would be truly appreciated, if wine 1.3.4+ could enter the statler repos!

same here

Or vimium, if you use Chrome / Chromium, which does the same.
Thanks a lot, guess I'm kinda surprised running into such difficulties trying to do things "right".
I ran into THIS post from a fellow crunchbang user with the same problem. It seems in this thread that the reason might be openbox.
Abiword is one of the few applications that actually changed their icon on my system.
So, it's common that an icon theme changes only half the icons, even though it comes with icons for way more programs? Just curious, but if I remember correctly, I was more successfull in the past?
Thanks for trying to help me, but benj1's suggestion isn't working for Iceweasel, because the icon in /usr/share/applications is the correct, black one while the old, blue one is displayed in tint2.
I can't be the only one who tries to change the icon theme in statler 64-bit? the ALLBLACK icons have the same problem. They provide icons that are not used.
I just found THIS, which explaines how to edit the Terminator icon. I'll try it out later, but what are they thinking, using such an ugly icon an making it almost impossible to change it?
I just checked and found icons for Gimp, Geany and Chromium in the .../real_icons/apps directory.
The funny thing is, that those custom icons also appear in /usr/share/application, so my applications seem to get their icons from somewhere else.
I even edited the dropbox and claws-mail tray icons to be fully black. I would (almost) die for black application icons in tint2!
Could it be, that those applications have problems with scalable *.svg icons?
@pvsage: I restarted X a couple of times now, sadly nothing changed.
@steen: the icons I mentioned are included but somehow not used. I don't understand why. Any help?
After looking though the July screenshot thread, I tried out the Any Color You Like icon theme.
A lot of icons changed, but some programs still use their old icons in the tint2 tray, even though ACYL contains new icons for said programs (for example Terminator, Gimp, Chromium, Geany and more).
I run a pretty default statler alpha2.
I tried to manually exchange the icons in /usr/share/pixmaps but that didn't help. Any suggestions? Thanks!
I played a little bit around with the crunchbang logo. Doesn't feel finished yet, but I thought I should share it anyways:

Edit: updated the above Images
thanks a lot for the link omns, I was looking all over the place for the "install" field in live mode...

damn!
Thanks a lot! This works great with my MSI Wind U100. Now my u100 is fully supported running arch linux. Horray!
I've got the same issue. I see the little wheel spinning for a couple of minutes before I can login.
I use an ATI 4830 with the default radeon driver on a clean install and never installed the fglrx driver. On a previous install I tried the fglrx drivers and couldn't login at all.
So there seems to be another problem apart from the fglrx issue.
122 GB with a lot of old music that I don't really listen to anymore. I don't really know why I keep it, guess out of sentimental reasons
