hello im curious as how i will upgrade the liquorix kernel in the future? I chose the option to install it
when i first booted crunchbang via the script. my version is 2.6.36-2.dmz.5-liquorix-amd64 is this the
newest? and how does it get upgraded if it isnt. I have a feeling it will auto update when i do apt-get upgrade? any light on this would be great btw here is my sources:

to be totally honest i dont see a difference in speed between the two.... benchmarking may
be a different story. I just like xfce for the easy of use wen it comes to the menu.

Hi.  The only thing I noticed when switching back and forth from the current squeeze-testing to sid was that if I took the Statler repository out my system defaulted to Debian Blue whereas leaving it in  my system defaulted to Statler Gray.

just didnt understand what you were trying to say is all smile

Do you mean you just hashed # the CB repros out or removed all CB from your PC. The machine would default to Debian if there was no CB theme or artwork but having CB in your apt sources list  # out shouldn't change anything

right im not removing the cb art just hashing out the statler repo  so i didnt in understand why it would default to blue

Hi.  The only thing I noticed when switching back and forth from the current squeeze-testing to sid was that if I took the Statler repository out my system defaulted to Debian Blue whereas leaving it in  my system defaulted to Statler Gray.

im sorry was this ment as a joke? my humor is a bit lacking atm. anyway i noticed lots of package upgades when i switched to sid??

I would, personally. But it is definitely uncharted waters. smile

ya i think ill leave it in there and watch the repos like a hawk  lol

ps Have you read my existing thread about Sid conversion?

yep thats what got me on this track to my impending doom

yea i was reading about the stater repo as you suggested and i have question. Will there be any benefit
of keeping that line in there untill the release of statler?

i edited my original post. I was interested in how well the aptosid transition went i haven't had any problems at all smile crosses fingers.

o yea hehe thanks im still in nub mode sometimes lol

Ive been playing around with sid and crunch bang.
recently I decided to try out the atposid (sidux) repos in statler.
So far every thing is going smoothly.
what i did

1.added the aptosid repos to etc/apt/sources.list so it looks like this

## CrunchBang Linux 10.xx aka Statler
## Compatible with Debian Squeeze, but use at your own risk.
deb http://packages.crunchbanglinux.org/statler statler main
#aptosid
# Free University Berlin/ spline (Student Project LInux NEtwork), Germany
deb ftp://ftp.spline.de/pub/aptosid/debian/ sid main fix.main
#deb-src ftp://ftp.spline.de/pub/aptosid/debian/ sid main fix.main
deb http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ sid main contrib non-free
2 added the aptosid keyring
apt-get install aptosid-archive-keyring

3installed aptosid custom kernel  (2.6.35)
sudo apt-get install linux-image-2.6-aptosid-amd64 linux-headers-2.6-aptosid-amd64
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

this way the updates are less likley to damage your sustem then the regular sid repos

Edit i must mention that i had to reintroduce flash to statler after the dist upgrade with the new 64 bit
version on adobe's web site.

the best thing about the xfce edition is auto updating menus:D

and by the way, before updating your rolling distro take a look at here: http://edos.debian.net/weather/

very useful thanks

it runs great ty

deb http://packages.crunchbanglinux.org/statler statler main
deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian testing main contrib non-free
deb http://security.debian.org/ testing/updates main contrib non-free
deb http://www.debian-multimedia.org testing main non-free

thanks brotha but i think you misunderstood me i was changing to sid smile life on the edge its like a
linux mmo always fixing what it breaks roll

nvm im dumb

how do i install this

oh thanks that multimedia repo is a good idea. I also had to reinstall my gfx driver  no biggie tho.

ok all seems to be well and good now

here is my sources.list does it look right to you guys?

deb http://packages.crunchbanglinux.org/statler statler main
#Debian
# Unstable
deb http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ unstable main contrib non-free
#deb-src http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ unstable main contrib non-free

ok so after adding the unstable repos and doing a dist upgrade every thing worked fine! but i get this message
W: Failed to fetch http://security.debian.org/dists/unstab … ackages.gz  404  Not Found [IP: 128.31.0.36 80]
is this do to a bad or missing repo server ?

ya sometime it gets borked

ty ill take a look. ya arch is great i love pacman.

im sorry if this has been explained before but i could not find it on the forums. I need to know
how to switch from the default testin repos to sid. Im familar with arch but not debian and I wanted
to make this a rolling release as I have gotten used to that style of os. thanks so much:D
