i've given the acpi-scripts a try. the work really nicely. easy to install, etc.... highly recommended for 1000h users who can't get eee-control to work.

hi yous,
i've managed to install the acpi scripts on my 1000h and everything works just fine. now, for the first time, i'm able to see my batteries wear level.... and it shocks me.
i've owned my eeepc for 5 months now and i use it every other day. however, my battery wear is shown to sit at 24% already. Is that normal?
any one else experiencing that problem? any chance to "make it better"
cheers for the input.

hi guys,
same problem here. am happy with #! on my normal lapotop. however, with the eeepc it and the eee-control performance-manager not working on my 1000h it sucks out the battery's life like crazy. has there been a solution to that problem yet i've read the posted links and threats but they all seem to either not work or only just occasionally. apart from that my linux knowledge is not that extensive as to know which one is promising and which is not.
any pointers?
cheers!

hi guys,
don't laugh, i'm successfully running #! on my normal desktop and now want to put on my eeepc1000h, too.
1)the esc button to select a boot device doesn't work for me.
2)i don't really see the asus start screen for more than .3 seconds
3)i'm dualbooting xp and ubuntu at the moment.
are there other possible buttons. i think i've read in some forum that it was f12 for someone, same model, though.
any ideas?
cheers

try to look under firefox - preferences - applications..... there you should find "mailto" and you can change the "default" to any program you like in ur /usr/bin for example.....

Re: Ethernet connection not detected (8 replies, posted in Help & Support (Stable))
hi there,
i've found this in the ubuntuforums
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php? 4401+wired maybe this helps. i know that the broadcom chipsets are sort of a nightmare to configure, at least when it comes to wireless. but there was a suggestion for the wired, too.
i've also stumbled across a post, the location of which i cannot recall, that talke about a driver having been blacklisted by accident. there is a config file where you can supposedly change that, i just don't know where. maybe someone of the senior-members can assist on that if i happen to be on the right track.

hi yous,
me again, trying to finalize my crunchbang installation.
one thing that keeps annoying me is that my firefox doesn't seem to retain what i tell him to do regarding certain types of files.
the settings are correct in the preferences. with every new file, however, i 've yet again to direct it to the correct progra in the /usr/bin directory.
any ideas how to solve that?
cheers for all the kind help.

# Launch adeskbar (sleep 1s && adeskbar) &
thanks for the quick reply. unfortunately, this for whatever reason didn't work out for me. i've put my last few lines like this now:
# Launch Conky
sleep 7s && conky -q &
# Launch adeskbar
sleep 1s && /home/jac/.ADesk_Bar/./adeskbar &
xpad &don't konw if it's pretty (considering my non-existing coding skills most likely not) but it seems to work for now.

Re: conky covers other windows (9 replies, posted in Tips, Tricks & Scripts)
Uncomment this line #own_window_hints undecorated,below,sticky,skip_taskbar,skip_pager
didn't really work for me. just caused conky to totally disappear at random intervals.
i added a 5 sec sleep intervall before the conky start and that seemed to do the trick. now i can even have xpad launch after it. don't know if that missing sleep was really the problem as with other people it seemes not necessary. however, for now it seems to work.
maybe somewhen has an idea as to how this works....
but i have to say again, this is a really nice fast helping community. thanks for that.

hi there,
installed the bar and really like it. even though i've grown fond of the keybord shortcuts. it'll be great for my girlfriend.however, to make it really accessible for her, one question:
how do i manage to get the bar launched at startup?
it's probably really simple but as a guy with little experience with configuring config and autostart files manually... i'm not yet familiar with all that basic command line stuff apart from apt, editing fstab and sources.list....
thanks for the fantastic project. i tried wbar initially and i have to say, that adeskbar is by far superior. and much prettier.
cheers for the help

hi there,
I've had my conky and desktop set up quite nicely and all worked fine. (thanks to all those conky config posts i was able to cherry pick my favorite things...)
but just recently, that is as of yesterday, on every system start my conky starts in a way that it is always on top covering every window beneath. after manually restarting conky it works fine most of the time, though!

right clicking on it and then choosing
"panel settings"
gives you a few options, transparency being one of them. you can even tint is as far as i know.
hope that helps.

Hi there,
my names Johannes, a med student from germany who's panic about his finals at the moment. That's why instead of studying I divert my attention to trying out a new linux! Here I am.
I've been using plain ubuntu for the last 3 years but am still a half newbie, I guess.
I'm a big fan of scotland as well as I've studied in Aberdeen for a year in 2006/2007.
Keep up the good work. If i find some time, I'll try to help if my limited abilities let me!
cheers

Topic: [solved] OpenBox Menu items with root privilege (3 replies, posted in WM/DE Talk)
hi there,
my first own forum thread. I've been using crunchbang for 2 days now (i've been using plain ubuntu for the last 3). First of all, I really like the distro. Nice lean, not overloaded but still all the great hardware recognition.
I especially love the nicely preconfigured openbox manager, which is a blessing for me as even after three years of linux I'm not too thrilled about editing files and tweaking every last bit!
now my question:
1) when trying to edit the menu, i tried to create an item for pysdm, which requires root privileges. when i entered "sudo pysdm" in the execute bit and tried to run it, it just would start.
How do i work around that or is it simply not possible to add sudo commands to the menu?
thanks for the help in advance.
cheers

Re: Terminator transparency workaround (19 replies, posted in Tips, Tricks & Scripts)
cool, works really well. awsome, that's what i needed!
only thing it does, though, is that when dragged around, the background pictures stays "locked" in it and updates only when it is at its final destination.....
any way that can be changed?
if not, not the end of the world. it's obviously no essential feature!
THANK YOU
