Well since lxrandr is a front-end to randr, they just went with lx + randr. I do agree its not intuitive for a newbie though.
Did google break without anyone telling more, or more over did the man pages suddenly disappear?

I feel so much more educated now. Also, I feel like all of the chaos and 1000s of threads I've been reading through and commenting on and jumping around lately now makes more sense - I have a more clear "big picture" idea of whats going on. Therefore, many thanks for the find!
Either way, we could make a community maintained muppett artwork package that you can install on your own time after install. I agree though, no copyright on distributed things, its just asking for lawsuit this day and age
<3 for sure - great work, especially love #5 and #6
Firefox has had horrible memory leaks since day one (I recall early Firefox on Windows using up nearly 200mb just on it's own) and from what I understand there's no reason that Iceweasel wouldn't share the same problems.
Chrome is the way to go. Thought I'd never say it either. Its also more secure - Pwn2Own contestants havent even attempted to hack it [link]
by the way anyone know whether it is ok to use muppets images for #! regarding copyright restrictions ?
in the official release...maybe no
in community made things, yea, unless your making $$ off of it
They mentioned the alpha release and more interesting that they will interview corenominal in the show next week!

GNUCash is great, but sometimes it is overkill...its like trying to be your own CPA
Buddi was one I looked into and never got around to trying - might be a good middle ground
Anonymous has started one of his legendary quick reference threads, see: http://crunchbanglinux.org/forums/topic r-statler/ - hopefully it will help to achieve what you mention. Also, I would like to make an effort to get some offline documentation included on the LiveCDs, which should also help. I just need to figure out the best way to achieve this.
txt file (or serries of txt files) owned by root with read access for everyone (so cant be overwritten except by those who most likely dont need it) that has a section in the menu?
A pretty GUI walkthrough would be nice, but since I dont know Qt, C, or much else, Im not planning on this option since I cant make it ![]()
I think having something thats on the HDD would be good since net access isnt always guarenteed, etcl.
I feel for the owners of the blog, I really do, but I have never understood why anyone who spends time and effort creating, writing and maintaining a blog would opt to choose a free service to host it on, which ultimately they have no control over. Again, I do feel for them, hopefully Google will do the right thing and restore it, or at least provide them with some sort of backup so that the owners can restore the blog elsewhere.
Exactly why I'm not all big on the cloud computing thing without a physical backup...if its in the cloud...you dont own it ![]()
What I would really like to see in Statler is inclusion of Radio Tray. A nice little systray-program that just runs your favourite radiostations playlist. Nothing else, nothing more. No need to launch some 64 MB RAM program to just hear some music. Just choose your station in Radio Tray.
That'll be my wishful thinking for Statler
Truthfully, because of radio tray with mocp I have no need for VLC - radio tray takes care of shoutcast for me, and mocp takes care of local music for me. I'm all for including it too! ![]()
plus as omns points out, if you know enough about the pros and cons of root v sudo, you should be able to set up the account your self.
+1, so I vote keep sudo. I know what I am doing on my system, but I still like having the security of sudo.
@monkeybritt: From what I've read, you have more of a chance of malicious things running if your 100% root than if you use sudo, so I think we need to find some clarification...
Archbang...every day I am torn between the challenge of learning arch and a new system, and being a cool kid with Statler, as the two are even in every way, so I know not which to chose ![]()

I think if the community and its corresponding atmosphere is something we wish to preserve, then you need to ban the troll. #! has been troll free, and past trolls are taken care of quickly, and I would argue thats a huge contributor as to why the atmosphere has been as great as it has. I'd spend alot less time here if I had to read through people "expressing" themselves when in reality their just being an ass.
Free speech is only great when all parties are mature, and the alpha thread example does not exemplify all mature parties

I am beaker
(Guess it knew I'm a chemist)

I have a western digital external HD - formated it as NTFS so I could use it all (instead of 1/2 the space) and it is now being shared over the network via my ubuntu computer (soon to be #!-statler-rc) as a samba drive
No issues here
Because of #! i just prefer anything that has a right click menu..
+1 - I had a hard time adapting to my windows laptop again...and still at work I catch myself doing it...even on my ubuntu computer ![]()
Ok I made an oblogout theme with the Elementary icons:
Well shoot, now we just need the boss' approval to have in incorporated ![]()
@jpope: I like the any color and the ACYL icons. I figure the default should be the one to match the rest of the system (elementary icons) but if there was a way to give the user the choice between icon...(dreaming)
xfce: 88MB (as above)
ob: 70MB
Checked the openbox version, for me on the dell mini, same as the xfce version, only 10MB less RAM useage. As to be expected, the wireless doesnt work. A note though, iwconfig and ifconfig dont work...dont know if these packages should be default or what? Makes diagnostics for networking issues easier...idk?
May I suggest, for the benifit of looks (I understand an alpha might be too early to be concerned with looks), to have the logout run by the beautiful script here: http://crunchbanglinux.org/forums/topic ersion-02/
@ HANNA: you try making the live-usb with the 'dd' command as per the wiki?
I thought X-Chat
Lol, they all look the same to me! Hopefully no copyright lawsuites are in the near future : X
Very nice...I like the vectoring ![]()
