I hadn't heard about Dropbox until this post and I really am liking it.

I have one rookie question though.  Do I have to keep nautilus installed or can I uninstall it after getting dropbox working?

actually, you do NOT need to keep nautilus. A little farther down the post, you will see that you do not even have to install nautilus to get dropbox working. Just start dropboxd with autostart.sh and you are golden. I don't have nautilus installed on either of my machines with #! and Dropbox.

Michael

Interesting, would you mind posting the code that you used to start dropboxd in autostart.sh?

Scroll up and it is in this thread.

Very, very nice. I am LOVING all of the wallpapers that are coming out of this community!

I have an HP LaserJet 1100 (parallel) and it was a breeze to setup. I have not tried to set up my Canon MP600 (USB) on my #! system as it is main printer for my Macbook Pro.

Nah, just search for pypanel and find out how to change the date. unless you really want to change the panel.

That would be pypanel, but I have never used it so i am not sure how to get it changed.

Michael

Good choice! I am sure that you will enjoy it more than any Acer out there.

Go to Terminal and run

$ lspci

and paste the contents in the pastebin and then reply here with the pastebin URL. That may give us an indication of what the hardware for the wifi and eth are.

Michael

SWEET! Thanks, bgwg! I really do like that wallpaper (even though it is not in black!)

It's called tablaunch, and you can turn it off by editing your ~/.config/openbox/autostart.sh file and deleting/commenting out the line about tablaunch.

That explains it! You must be using 8.04 version of Crunchbang, since Tablaunch was taken out of the 8.10 versions.

Glad that you got it solved, as I had TOTALLY forgotten about tablaunch.

I really appreciate that, since I made it myself. big_smile

It is very nice! Care to share with the community?

Imagination Movers (on TV) that my 2YO is watching on Disney!

I am not exactly sure what you are trying to accomplish. I do know that you cannot write very large files onto FAT32 drives. FAT32 has a 4GB file limit. It will not accept any files over 4GB.

I was able to write to NTFS drives out of the box with my Crunchbang (at least I am pretty sure that I was).

Well, I am an ThinkPad fanboy. I think that as a product line they are the best 'linux friendly' line out there. I would probably take a ThinkPad over just about everything out there.

What version of Crunchbang are you using? I am unaware of any top dock that is in Crunchbang. The only thing that I can think of that is at the top of the screen is dmenu, and that has to be invoked with the ALT-F3 combo.

it was on Lifehacker today. Try looking there. I will be as soon as can get some time with my #! system.

Awesome, Richard.

A small/light texture would do wonders for that!

My openbox menu entry is be

terminator --command=system-update

Then you authenticate when you start the update process.

I just checked my end of month stats and I served up:

974.954955 gigabytes of Crunchbang ISOs since Jan 22.

Yeah, that is almost a 1 TERABYTE of bandwidth moving, people! If those were all Desktop ISOs, that would mean that almost 1,500 people downloaded #! from my site.

THAT IS FREAKIN AWESOME!!

Let's keep up the good work!

Michael

I REFUSE to buy Cruzer USB drives (or any that have that U3 crap)! You can only get rid of that U3 partition with Windows (I think). I am not sure if gParte would take care of it or not. I am not buying one to test it out.

I am sticking with Kingston DataTraveler 100s or Verbatim Store 'N' Go from now on.

Michael

Change the association to another app is the first thing that came to my head.

Try looking here on the iDesk Wiki. There seems to be a description for all of the config settings there.
