Topic: Your CrunchBang Linux system

In response to another thread where it was asked what the minimum specs are for running #!CrunchBang, we thought it might be an idea to start a thread where people can post the specs of machines that #!CrunchBang is successfully running on.

I'll start things off with my laptop specs below. Feel free to modify the template to tell us about your machine. It's just a guide smile

Comments: Everything works pretty much as it should. No special configuration required for any hardware. Not tested with Bluetooth.

I have several systems which I am running CrunchBang on, I will try and post to this topic as and when I use them. Here is my first one:

Other:  3 x USB2.0, Texas Instruments 5-in-1 Multimedia Card Reader (SD/MMC/MS/MS PRO/xD)

Comments: Also features Bluetooth, but not tested or used. The built-in Atheros wireless was a pain to configure, needed to download and compile madwifi from source. Everything else works nicely. CrunchBang runs snappily smile

Latest discovery: RAW files from digital camera are processed quite well & fast with Bibble Lite - free for Linux users, i386.deb package available.

I'm running #! 8.10.01 on my old Dell laptop--started with the light version of 8.4--but I'm having no problems with new version.  Here's my system:

Sweet, writing this from my old desktop machine that the rest of the family still use everyday. It's also our main data storage and backup machine. It's an old workhorse and still does a great job. Installed from a remastersys live cd created from my travelmate setup. I mainly created this because I didn't want to spend time setting things up again just the way I like. I guess that's what Remastersys is for smile

I have used many linux distros and as I see here many of us have recently found #! linux. So far I'm using CrunchBang (8.10.01) from 4 GB DataTraveller USB stick. (hdd installation). I liked to test how it works and have to admit very well! smile

soon i'll be running #! on my homebuilt desktop PC but as of now i don't have it at my current residence. when i do i'll probably go back to OS X on my macbook for photoshop and use my desktop for web dev.

Works good, a bit too much paging, so I added another 128MB ram and things were very noticeably faster
MP3 playing - not possible sound skips
Audio via YouTube & LastFM - interestingly the Audio via Flash 10 is perfect - no video on YouTube (far too jerky)

Had to install on a much better laptop then swap HD as there was no boot from CD or USB in the OLD OLD OLD Bios.

Installed via USB CD, then used that to make my USB Pen live version.
All works perfect - not one quibble.
