Very minimal, just like the distro! ![]()

Inspired by some earlier postings. I tried to work my asymetric idea from earlier in, but it wasn't playing nice with my attempts at perspective. First few days in Inkscape, so I'm finding it less than obvious what to do exactly. Anywhoos, you guys have any ideas as to positioning of a "crunchbang" or "#!"?
Also:

Maybe a bit clearer...

I must say, this is much more than I expected.
A lot of creativity ![]()
Keep 'em comin!
I'm really very pleased with this one:
Figured out the prespective tool (ironically enough thanks to a tutorial by rfquerin found completely randomly on youtube!)

Font is consolas, which is MS property i'm afraid but it was just to give everyone an idea.
EDIT: redrew from scratch to fix the perspective...

Lots of great ideas, but remember that it has to be usable(and recognisable) at for instance Distrowatch in a size of 60x60... ![]()

wow, i really like that! one of my favourites! .)

Nice one san
I like the original very much, but if corenominal wants a replacement he can't go wrong with yours.
Just thought I'd tweak and simplify a concept I had for a wallpaper a while ago along with some lettering I was working on as well. I thought it might make a good logo if we don't want to take ourselves too seriously...

San's suggestions are absolutely brilliant.
I must confess I first thought: "Where's the exclamation mark?" Well, I'm a little bit slow of comprehension, as it seems...
And I like the last one, too, in rfquerin's series, i.e. the one with the black background (see post 20 above).

In possibly more logo friendly format:

Here's a badge type logo. Maybe better as a badge than a logo though.

I like this
I'd like to see what the #! characters look like just on their own. Maybe with a charcoal border so that it would stand out a bit against black backgrounds.

Wow! For me you could remove everything outside the circle and call it "DONE!"!
Otherwise I truely just like #! without all the confusing use of "block" art that seems to have caught fire in this competition.

Agreed, I think I can feel a wallpaper coming on ![]()

We'll keep the competition open until the 23rd of March 09.
short deadline, isn't it ?
I like it, but you should make it appear as if the "#!" is on an actual sphere (rather than the 2-toned disc). I think that would look very polished. Too flashy for my taste though. I personally preferred your first efforts rfquerin, especially the criss-crossing lines forming "box-squares", a subtle reference to the OpenBox WM ![]()

Here are a few variations on a green globe concept:

Sphere idea:

I like that one. Actually it resembles "an open box" indeed; I mean a cardboard box spread out as when they are stacked in a warehouse (I hope you get the picture from this description).
Except that I prefer the text without caps (I don't think the capitalized C and B have to be featured in the logo).
I enjoy seeing how these ideas evolve in terms of cooperation, team work rather than the aggression and jealousy that mark some other competitions.
You know I hadn't originally seen it that way, but now that you mention it, it does resemble yet-to-be-assembled box laid out on the floor. I'm not particularly attached to the text as it is myself. It's a MS family font, so I've been looking for alternatives in the public domain... I'll try it out with all lower case once I find one I like.
Rather than the perspective thing, I thought I'd go back to some comments from omns and kbang and decided to just go with a chunkier #! symbol and skew it slightly to give it a bit more of a dynamic feel. I used a slightly chunkified version of the cleancb font (just added a stroke to the font in Inkscape) to go with it. It would definitely have to be tweaked to show good contrast on dark backgrounds.. but on white I think it looks quite nice:

i can see many creative ideas here .) what more, in really short time, congratz #! community! .)
but i still believe, there's no need for some graphical logotype, when the original, plain "#!" is sufficient and have the best description of crunchbang, as its simplicity and clean design. (sry for that sentence, i had maybe lost myself somewhere on the way)
i want to say, that even though i really love many of featured works, i'd like to have original #! symbol as in distro's default wall..
