Topic: Liferea

When I did my first stint with Crunchbang I used Liferea (RSS reader) quite a lot. My preference would be Akregator but I didn't want to pull the whole of KDE down just for a news reader.

Lately there seems to be something wrong. Tried on Eeebuntu a couple of weeks ago and a few times just lately with Crunchbang. It's always hanging with no screen redrawing. Moving from one story to next can take ages.

Anyone got any advice? Anyone getting same problems?

This version is 1.4.26 - There's a newer version, but I'm wondering about going to an older version. Anyone have any tips on how to do either, or to suggest a better reader (I'm even thinking of using Thunderbird - anything's gotta have more useful keyboard shortcuts than Liferea...).

Re: Liferea

hi

i use akregator because i don't like liferea
but there's other options
google reader with gears for offline use is a very nice option, better IMHO than thunderbird

Re: Liferea

If you don't mind using an release candidate (RC), then you can use this PPA:

https://launchpad.net/~liferea/+archive/ppa

BTW if you wish to contact me, send me an e-mail instead of a PM.

Re: Liferea

I added the PPA, the one for Webkit too, but got an unresolvable dependency error when trying to upgrade.

I take a look at Google Reader with Gears. Hopefully Gears is ready for Firefox 3.5

Re: Liferea

Urm, had to change distro from karmic to jaunty, then it was fine. Liferea 1.6.0-rc6 is running much less laggishly.

Re: Liferea

One I like is RSSOwl....YMMV
