Topic: tintwizard - A GUI to configure tint2

tintwizard is a nice tool to easily configure your tint panel. I thought you might be interested. Here is a screenshot that shows tintwizard in it's glory. Hope you like it!

Maybe it could be added in the next release?

+1 I have been playing around with this, and I like it. I think it should be added too.

Re: tintwizard - A GUI to configure tint2

I have had a quick look at this in the past and I think it looks promising. It would be good to get a few more people testing it for inclusion. smile

Re: tintwizard - A GUI to configure tint2

I've used it for a few weeks now, and it's great!

I'm glad you find this little tool helpful. :-)

Re: tintwizard - A GUI to configure tint2

I'd like to give tintwizard a try, but being new to#! I don't know how to install it & add it to my menu. Please could someone give me a step by step guide if that's not too much trouble.
I need to start with the unpacking, where to? I've also seen instructions like 'navigate to x directory in root' - I know it's basic but how does one do that?

Many thanks.

It's not as complicated as you think!

The archive contains three files: README, tintwizard.conf and tintwizard.py.  It doesn't matter where you extract them to, you can put them anywhere!  Once they're extracted, right click on tintwizard.py and choose "Properties" from the right-click menu.  A window will appear with a "Permissions" tab, make sure the "executable" option is checked.  If it is, all you've got to do is left-click it to open it like you would for a text file or folder.

If you want to add it to the menu, simply make a menu entry in obmenu pointing to tintwizard.py, wherever you extracted it to.

Hi everyone! As the author of tintwizard I'd like to thank you all for your kind comments! It's always nice when something which gets hacked together as a learning experience actually ends up being useful smile

I'll add this type of information to the readme and the wiki when I've got time - thanks for the idea!

Re: tintwizard - A GUI to configure tint2

How can I enable the battery feature? Will I have to recompile?

I'm so meta, even this acronym

Re: tintwizard - A GUI to configure tint2

It seems like the gui does everything right, just like I did by myself. It seems like it's not active in the repos.

Re: tintwizard - A GUI to configure tint2

I installed and it seems to be missing some bits, or my config has extra bits. I'm going to backup and recreate my config with tintwizard and will figure out which is the case.

From the looks of it, it will make configuring a lot easier.

Are you using the most recent version of tint2? I think I've included all options from the most recent release (I added 'wm_menu' option to tintwizard earlier today) but would appreciate if you could let me know if I've missed anything else. Thanks!

Re: tintwizard - A GUI to configure tint2

The GUI is intuitive and does exactly what it says it will do.  Well done!

Re: tintwizard - A GUI to configure tint2

I just installed most recent tintwizard 0.2.2

Thank you asdfhjkl

Together with the instruction here in the thread + the README
it is very easy + inuitive to use

I love this little tool, should be added in the repos wink

Re: tintwizard - A GUI to configure tint2

Thank you asdfhjkl.

some small thinks :
- taskbar_mode = single_monitor is removed in 0.7
tint2 always show task in current monitor.
- panel_position can have 3 parameters : left/right/center  top/bottom/center  horizontral/vertical
- task_width = 200 parameter was replaced by task_maximum_size = 200 20
  width = 200 and height = 20.
this is to keep tint2 consistent when you change horizontal to vertical.

tintwizard looks good.
