I will try, sorry. In my defence, today's issues were unexpected; the server was experiencing quite high loads and while I was investigating it decided to go a little nuts. I have now updated all packages, rebooted and rebuilt the MySQL index for these forums. The server is still fluctuating with medium/high loads and I am still investigating. Hopefully it will settle down soon.
Funnily enough, I received a PM this morning regarding moving the various parts of this site (wiki, forums etc) to separate subdomains. It is something I have been thinking about myself, but I have not made any definite commitments to it yet. Today's problems might encourage me to consider it sooner, rather than later.
Also, I am not sure if anyone cares, but if they do and for their peace of mind, I run nightly automated backups for this site. If the worst were to happen and the server actually went CRUNCH BANG, the most we should lose is a days worth of posts.
P.S. The forum database now consists of over a million rows and is 50MB+ size!
