The short answer is no. It will be ready when it's ready. Release times have varied between 4-10 weeks after Ubuntu.
What about beta's ? Available for testing soon ?
I know that, it's too early to ask, but:
Can the 9.04 users update to 9.10 with a dist-upgrade, or some terminal-commands, or we must reinstall the whole bunch?
I'm sure I won't be the only to check out the Karmic upgrade when it goes gold on the 29th; I assume it will be available via Synaptic.

You can upgrade but its not necessarily supported (and IMO a clean install is better than upgrading). Also you'll have to wait for a CrunchBang 9.10 repository.
Thank you!
Corenominal... Should we not have a testing build script with a 9.10 repository to play with by now?
Could you share it with us? Could you? Yes? ![]()
@jotapesse - if Philip's experience with KarmicBang is anything like what the rest of us have gone through, there's a good reason we don't see a 9.10 testing repository yet.
If you're really Jonesing for some bugs, you can sudo do-release-upgrade -d in a terminal. Not all the mirrors are hosting the Karmic packages yet; I know that the Duke mirror in the US has them.

Eh, eh, I know, I know.. I've gone trough the 9.10 bug path already. Just pushing the button for #! 9.10 testing. ![]()
Im so happy with 9.04 i havent even thought about going to 9.10 .
But once it comes out,,,Ill be sure to get it.
And im sure it will be well worth the wait...
few games and apps dont work for me in 9.04 (lazy to find and install each dependency). I need 9.10. But I hate having to upgrade everytime to play latest games. Can we have a rolling release please?

#! is based on ubuntu so unless ubuntu goes rolling release or #! changes base distro no.
I live in France and thus am member of ubuntu-fr.org and I read there that actually a lot of people don't like Karmic very much.
Most of the people complain about Grub 2 and longer boot times than jaunty.
You think this'll be fixed in KoalaBang?
I'm running CB Karmic on my Eee 900. It was a little bit of pain in the ass to install it. To get it running I did a clean minimal install of Ubuntu 9.04, then Crunchbang script and then do-release-upgrade to 9.10. Even then I had some troubles, but solved them after a while. I have written about them in another thread.
Well the old grub is still available in the repos but I dont know if its possible to choose grub instead of grub2.

It is, but it's by no means a simple process. As I've been playing around with a Debian Testing install lately I've had to get to grips with configuring grub2 and considered going back to grub, but now that I've got the framebuffer sorted I've decided to stick with it. The information regarding replacing grub2 with grub is provided in the link below, I haven't done this so I can't recommend it:
Hey, maybe to lure corenominal away from his other more responsible duties we should all donate a little extra $$ to convince him, even if he doesn't get started, it'd be well worth it. Also those hoodies look sweet.
Maybe it would be good not to put too much pressure or corenominal regarding 9.10 ...

It's not a koala, it's a drop bear!
Which I guess is karma for most of us.
On my "Ubuntu box" I just rolled back to 9.04; 9.10 had some serious issues... not sure how this will affect the CrunchBang project, but I am not worried... most of the major 9.10 bugs will probably get fixed in the next month or two... if not... ![]()
Basically, I have grown somewhat weary of Ubuntu's 6 month release schedule; it maybe good for some and I mean no disrespect by this, but personally, I think I am better suited to using an OS which is released when it is ready.

I totally agree. I have always felt the 6mos releases are pushing it. At some point I fear it will come back to bite Ubuntu.

I tend to agree, however, looking at the Distrowatch Top 10 list, it seems a majority of users prefer a distro that releases every 6 months. (Arch is in there at #10 though for the rolling release crowd.)
I get the feeling Karmic is like the Vista of Ubuntu releases...
*puts on flame suit*
I haven't personally had many issues with it, but I've been running it on machines with good hardware support. I have had some flickering issues though and sometimes my mini 9 won't shut down all the way on it's own. Not show stoppers but annoying anyway.
