Topic: xrdb -merge .Xdefaults

I've toying around with .Xdefaults to make xclock look good on my openbox desktop.

I was surprised that the settings didn't take effects immediately ?

I've found that I had to issue this command every time after log in:

xrdb -merge .Xdefaults

To make the magic happen.

My suggestion is:
Put this command in /etc/gdm/Presession/Defaults before exit 0

So that changes in .Xdefaults gets merged everytime at log in.

Just a thought smile

Re: xrdb -merge .Xdefaults

Mmm, I thought X resources got setup as part of the X scripts. I'll have a gander tonight, i'm sure this is done in Debian by default.

Re: xrdb -merge .Xdefaults

Sounds odd.
Perhaps it is better to put

xrdb -merge .Xdefaults

in autostart.sh ? Or wont that work?

Care to share your configured xclock?
