Re: #!Crunchbang Folding Team
If those that are interested are happy with #! Crunchers as a team name I will head on over to http://folding.stanford.edu/ to set this up.

OK this is the link to the team stats page, enter the team number into the folding client when you set it up.

For some reason on the stats page the team name appears as ! Crunchers, but in the main team listings it appears correctly as #! Crunchers.
updated and folding as a #! Cruncher!:D

Will I be burned at the stake for contributing from my windows lappy at home thats always on?
The pc might explode, but you won't be burned yourself. ![]()
I decided to run some units on my Mac as well as the old #! pc. I'm not been struck down yet.
@stopie - you should read this about folding on a laptop:

folding now
<random> hmm ive made a swan

I'm up and running.
thanks for that link anonymous. Decided to get the macbook running, and perhaps that will help. Puppy was getting hot!
But it always has done that in the past, makes since to me being that it's processors are maxed out. Anyhow, will investigate the thread.
Second note:
on the older #! pc at 1 Ghz all is well. My unitinfo.txt tells me I've like a month to the deadline. But...since I started using the MacBook with it's higher performance, the deadlines are like 4 days!!! I can't run the laptop 24 hrs a day, so this first unit already has me stressed out trying to make the deadline.
Any console flags or something to use to get a little longer deadlines? Or will the clients figure that out? (remember seeen they monitor some report:deadline ratio or somethin.)
[edit - guess I should have noted that this is linux specific info, not mac os x lol]
[more editing after some FAH forum research]
Seems that SMP workunits have very short deadlines (3-5 days), thus this requires any comps running an SMP client to run nearly 24 hours a day.... I can't do that with a laptop. Others have talked about running more than one uniprocessor client on dual-core machines. Still 2x work, but with longer uni- deadlines (hopefully around a month). I shall try to convert to this style with the lappy.

Oragami looks like a nice option for install for me, but it looks like its cli based. Are there any gui based f@home clients?
You mean a GUI for monitoring FAH? You can try FahMon:

Seems my #! Crunchbang pc has died once again. My folding is on hiatus. ![]()
