Re: March 2010 Screenshot Thread

I'm a new user to the forums, and a new user to CrunchBang.

As soon as I can figure out Conky and Tint2 (reading the help sections and various how-to's now) I'll post a screenshot.

Also, Gutterslob, can you link to this image please? http://omploader.org/vM3E0aA

Dedicating this one to P0rksh3d's Corbonix, since it deserves more love than it's getting.

Theme turned out more usable than I thought... still some rough edges with the GTK, but tried it with quite a few apps (no GIMP or O.O on my netbook, though) and seemed comfortable enough, for me at least. Works well without compositing, thanks to the borders.

Nice geezer...  friends share right??  Haha, I like the minimalizm, it's how i roll plus the theme looks great with chrome.  Tar up that bad boy and pass it my way.  astroidblueheavenATgmailDOTcom  ~plz  (i need it for first release:P)

Thanks Gutterslob!

I did look through Arpinuxs' DeviantArt gallery, but I couldn't find that specific one.
Big fan of your darker, muted screenshots. big_smile

Re: March 2010 Screenshot Thread

Well, here it is. I don't quite have tint2 where I like it, and would like it darker, but it'll do for now. As for conky, I can't get the windowed option to go away, and if I do, it reloads on top of other windows.

Wow! Those Conky gauges are awesome! The whole theme reminds me of a mat-black Harley Davidson for some reason. I bet if you added a Harley logo to the wallpaper, the Linux bikers out there would lap it up smile

Brand new statler install on my netbook.

Need to find out how to make the ACYL icons take for volwheel and the power manager... Can't quite get my head around installing fonts either. sad

Re: March 2010 Screenshot Thread

^ You need to reboot to get some icons in the systray to change.  Volwheel doesn't use the system icon theme.

It has been rebooted several times. ^^

I'll get around to sorting it all out eventually, just got to make the time to read up on these things.

Re: March 2010 Screenshot Thread

Gutterslob: I believe you once said that the gtk and openbox themes you used for your darker setups were GreyscaleMod and MetroSensual, and pointed us to a link where we could get them?

I've managed to install the GTK themes, but I can't quite figure out what I'm supposed to do with the openbox-3 files. Any pointers or tips?

Re: March 2010 Screenshot Thread

@Him:
When you extract the .zip/.tar file you should see a folder with the title of the theme (I'll use MetroSensual as an example), a tint2rc, a wallpaper archive/folder, a details.txt and a .fonts.conf , right?

Just copy the folder titled MetroSensual over to the .themes folder in your home directory (press Ctrl+h in your file manager to view hidden folders/files). You don't have to separate the GTK and the openbox3 folders, just keep them together inside the MetroSensual one.
Then use obconf (I think it's under "Preferences -> OpenBox -> GUI Config" in Crunchbang... not 100%sure, since I'm on Sidux and my menu labels are slightly different) / or press Alt+f2 and type "obconf".
Once it loads, you should be able to scroll up/down the themes list to find MetroSensual.

I'm a bit scatterbrained and tired right now, so I hope my explanation was clear enough (I suck at explaining stuff) >__<
Hope this helps.

Cheers

Edit:
You probably know this already since you said you managed to get the GTK to work, but I'll explain just in case....
If I remember correctly, the archive tool in PCManFM (the file manager that comes with #! 9.04, if you're using that one) doesn't support drag and drop. If that's the case, extract all the contents of the .zip/.tar into a temporary folder, and then copy and paste only the MetroSensual folder into the .themes one.

Re: March 2010 Screenshot Thread

Gutterslob: That did the trick. Thanks!

And no, all it had was 2 folders, the GreyscaleMod and MetroSensual folders, each containing an gtk folder and a openbox-3 folder. There were no details.txt, font.conf, or tint2rc, although I would be extremely glad if you could point me in the general direction of those. big_smile

Once again, thanks for the help.
