Actually, I didn't use your "old school wallpaper"; I started with the default #! and GIMPed it.  Simple brightness cut and a color balance tweak.

That's exactly what I meant! cool

Yeah, it's a netbook (IdeaPad S10-2)... it usually idles around 40degC.... highest I've seen it go to is 50, when playing HD flash or whatever..... if I'm on battery power it's usually lower (34-35deg).

Cool.

My eeepc usually gets 54-55oC, up to 60-62/65(with max. load).

Should I tone down the OBT & icons, or tone-up the wallpaper?

Congrats on the install, Tawan
Been wanting to try that (the LiveCD version featured in one of the threads, I mean), but I'm not sure if it works well with a Unetbootin USB install.

Liking the streamlined Conky... previous one was nice, but took up too much screen space, to be completely honest.... this one is similar in size to a notification pop-up, which is good. smile.... must have be align and goto hell again, I bet! tongue

You can only try.. Even though I have Intel I had to choose the generic option with the live CD. Once I was logged in there the whole thing was silky smooth. Fair bit of learning the arch way, though nothing hard. Their Wiki guided me to a nice setup where (I think) I understand more about my system now. Go for it.

re the big old conky. It was all based on the great graphic from the even greater conky by sen7. I love the graphic and built my conky on it. I tried resizing it but it never looked as good as 100%. It is one job I have on my list to make a nice graphic in that style but smaller.

Looks like some of yous are in denial.  That ain't red, it's flaming pink!  Gutterslob, I'd tone down the icons & OBT.

Re: March 2010 Screenshot Thread

Made a subtler wallpaper and edited the icons and OBT to match

I've seen various screenshots, and it seems they've mostly done a good job.
Though I'm not thrilled by the eggplant/aubergine bootsplash and the left-sided minimize/maximize/close buttons (probably easily changed with gconf-editor)
So far, the thing that's impressed me the most is the speed (especially the boot-up).... thing the impresses me the least is the whole Yahoo-Bing-MS fiasco.

I actually haven't logged into xmonad in a couple days because of two bugs I found with it. First it doesn't play nice with a lot of java apps(the window shows up, but it's blank, something about the window title I think the bug report said), and I'm taking intermediate java now, so that was kind of annoying. Also it doesn't really play nice with skype, it still works, but the windows tend to behave pretty weird. I still think I'll go back when I'm done with the java class, I rarely use skype or java normally.
