Re: March 2010 Screenshot Thread
@omns, i'm intrigued by your kernel 2.6.32-3-686... because it isn't 2.6.32-trunk, is that a sid kernel or a custom one?

Slightly off,topic, but what do you use to concatenate the screenshots?
A guess would be Gimp... ![]()
Take 3 screenshots.
Open Gimp make new image, same width as the sceenshots, but 3 times the hight - cut and paste, move tool up and down - done!

Excellent work patrickstein! I love the icon color - minty fresh!
@Zwopper - pity there isn't some kind of CLI tool that will take multiple input image files and just stack them together! I'm sure it's different from joining PDF's, but still.

It's a rebuild of the current sid kernel which seems to solve several problems with Intel cards and the .32 squeeze kernel.
I've also used the sid kernel as is and it works quite successfully as well ![]()

I use imagemagick. Less hassle.
montage -geometry +0+0 -tile 1x3 scrot1.png scrot2.png scrot3.png scrot-final.pngand then generate the thumbnail:
convert scrot-final.png -resize 256x768 thumb.pngLast edited by danielrmt (2010-03-12 13:05:09)

love the theme but this desktop image will last a few seconds until I change it.
I'm just posting as it sort of 'works' but it's not me ..
PS Chromium rocks! (hated it last time I tried it on Linux, it now rulez
hehe
Sure I've seen someone using this one already, funny pic..

@tawan
That first wall is indeed awesome!!
Those are really heavy shadows you have there (in the last screenshot, especially)

Oh man I can't get to tweaking xcompmgr too, I only have so many hours in a day
I just use -c
last one
sudo gotobed now
Interesting... might try that next time, danielrmt
Tried revisiting the 1977 OBTs (an old favourite)... edited the theme a tad, but then I sorta lost myself and ended up with this mess
A bit too loud for my liking (and the general public's, I assume).... posting for the lulz, I guess
<snip>
oh my eyes, hot dog theme...
^^ sorry ![]()
actually going to bed now... If anyone remembers I had an interview a few weeks ago, well I didn't get the job, but I did get a different one. I just did my first 5 day week for 9 years. Hardly any time for being a geek now. But I'll do my best.
@tawan
Yeah, wanted to ask you about that, but was afraid I'd ruin the mood if it was going to be a less than positive reply.
I'm glad you got a job, even if it wasn't the one you initially planned for.
Best of luck and good night. ![]()
@tawan - Where did you find the Tolex wallpaper? I *love* it! (And not just because I like Tolex.)
EDIT: Congratulations on landing the job! I may be gainfully employed next week as well; just waiting to clear the background check.
@danielrmt - Thank you for the montage trick; I knew there had to be a CLI option.
