Re: How can I boot from USB the "Crunchbang Linux"?

Hi George, welcome to the forums!
I recommend you download two things:

1) Unetbootin for Windows: http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/
2) The CrunchBang .iso file: http://www.crunchbanglinux.org/wiki/downloads

Once both downloads are complete, run Unetbootin and follow their directions to copy the CrunchBang .iso to your USB drive. It's really easy!
You will be able to boot CrunchBang from the USB drive. However, it will run in "Live" mode, which means all updates, files, and settings will be lost each time you reboot. To create a "persistent" version of CrunchBang (one which saves your settings), you need to install Crunchbang to your computer's hard drive, or to a different USB drive.

Hope that makes sense, please ask if you have questions!

ps You shouldn't need to worry too much about antivirus or firewall with CrunchBang--one of the many advantages of switching to Linux!!!

Re: How can I boot from USB the "Crunchbang Linux"?

Hey george,

I am currently running the latest version of CrunchBang from a 4gb USB stick. Set it all up with the tutorial posted up on http://www.pendrivelinux.com/ and I must say I am very impressed.
Performance wise even on my old P4 with 512mb RAM it's smooth as silk. Will be looking at doing a full install on a spare partition within the coming days.

Good work to all who are working on CrunchBang Linux you'll have me as a user for awhile to come I feel! smile
