so i think omns solve the question of a 'help-pipe-menu'...
we just have to put :

Wouldn't this be better as a wiki page? that way your not bound for life to edit the post, and also the longer howtos can be posted there also.

I was wondering the same thing as I made the post and if there would be interest. It seems there is smile I'm happy to be bound to it at the moment (although any current and future mod can hack away at it) but will investigate the wiki option.

My only issue with the extra wiki pages idea is who maintains them when they become out of date. I've been involved with a few wikis over the years that have become a jumbled mess when multiple how-tos become neglected. In theory it works well but usually falls back to the responsibility of a few who struggle to keep up. At least with this thread or similar wiki page it only needs to be updated to reflect the current most useful forum threads.

Yes, omns. I find that forums threads often tend to be more current than wiki's. Some people are forum people and some are wiki people. There is no reason that a forum thread can't point to a wiki articale and visa-versa.

Exellent idea to index all the  helpfull theards Omns, now we won't have to search for them and new members won't have to browse a ton of pages for tips and tricks !
(hopefully as crunchbang evolve, the forum will grow bigged and the number  of threads a well)
I also think,  if the author of thread if ok with it to add them the the wiki as well.
But unlike kestrel i think it would be better to simply rewrite them for the wiki instead of linking to the forum, by rewrite i mean taking into consideration the whole thread discussion and compile an adapted howto based on the answers.
The oo3 or dropbox tips and trick discussion is a good example of what i'm tring to explain
just my 2cent

just wanted to say that this page is awesome ive been using ubuntu for a while but recently switched to crunchbang, mainly for the interface and i am very pleased. you all have done such and amazing job with this distro. the community is awesome. anyway just wanted to let everyone know that #! rocks!
