Topic: My heart goes Crunch Bang!

I don't remember the last time I've been so excited for something.  My heart goes Crunch Bang! Today I'm a new happy user of the  nimble Openbox Linux distribution.
My excitement is because I've been waiting for a year to install some Linux distribution in my laptop, but  for x circunstances it was impossible. But I didn't give up and I'm finally here with #!, my favorite distribution. The last of these weird circumstances has been that I can not install Statler as I'd  liked it.  I've downloaded Statler 3 times, burned 3 CD using different CD programs, using the lowest speed in DAO (Disc-At-Once), also I tried with a USB pendrive but it didn't work. My laptop doesn't boot with any Statler CD I burn, but it boots with any other I've tried - Slitaz, Linux Mint, Slax , ZenWalk and #! 9... -  I'll enjoy #! 9.04.01 until to find out how to upgrade to Statler.

Re: My heart goes Crunch Bang!

This may sound dumb, and I have no data to back it up, so take it with a grain of salt. I installed Stadler using an external DVD-burner, with the ISO image burnt onto a DVD-RW. It didn't take, so I did the same thing again onto a CD-RW, and it worked fine.

I know the media shouldn't matter, and I can't explain why it worked the second try and not the first, but just to humor me, look to see if it's DVD or CD...

Thanks for your comment. I've burnt Statler in DVD-R, DVD-RW and CD-R. I should try now CD-RW. I'd like to have another laptop to try out the CDs and DVDs already burnt, but I have only a netbook EEE PC and a Mac with the CD-ROM broken hmm

Re: My heart goes Crunch Bang!

I wouldn't bother with that. If it won't work from a CD-R, a CD-RW won't make much of a difference. The difference between a CD and DVD is quite a biggie.

We need better (more) brains working on this. Re-post the problem in the 'help' section, and give it the title of, Boot Media Won't Read. Posted back here in Feedback & Suggestions, My Heart Goes Crunch Bang, well, to most readers that just sounds like you love #!, and we all love #!, thus no one is paying attention to the problem because they're not sure one exists.

I should also compliment you on your command of the English language. I had two semesters of German back in High School (as close as we Americans get to Sweden) and the poor teacher nearly shot me in frustration. Never could figure out how to pronounce those two little dots over the O...

So, re-post. And, nice to meet you.

Make sure you check the m5sum before you burn.  I had a similar issue on another machine then after verifying the ISO the m5sum was bad.

n
Thank you for your advice and the head up about my English because I've learned it by myself. wink I had the same experience than you with French. I didn't like the teacher.

Before deciding to install #! 9, I posted this topic in the Help & Support forum. http://crunchbanglinux.org/forums/topic … howing-up/ Maybe the title of my post was not good.

Nice to meet you too.

Yes, the MD5 I've checked it with two applications for that.  Thank you.
