Topic: Reading /var/log/messages as user [Solved]
Hi,
I just joined Crunchbang after a longer abstinence from linux and I'm really enthused to it ![]()
I build a conky-config, and in that, I would like to tail /var/log/messages to get the last couple entries from the system log. But I don't get them.
I found out, that it's forbidden as a normal user to tail it. Only the superuser can do it.
How can I fix it? The machine is just for me and so I don't have any qualms about giving my users too much information about the system.
Thank you,
Ben
Edit: chmod 644 and the problem was solved - sorry for bothering you ...
I'm just realizing my time off linux ![]()
