Topic: Setting default browser?

Hi all,

Apologies if this has been covered already, I tried searching but didn't find the answer I was looking for, or just didn't recognise it.

I've just installed the Arora Web browser in Statler Openbox, and I'm really happy with it (much more stable than Midori, and quicker than Iceweasel), however when I run the 'Edit Default Applications' item from the Settings Menu there is only an entry for Iceweasel in the gnome-www-browser and x-www-browser items.

Is there a file I need to edit?

Re: Setting default browser?

# update-alternatives –config x-www-browser

http://www.infodrom.org/Debian/doc/main … tives.html

Hope it helps smile

Re: Setting default browser?

Cheers bozhkov...

Didn't know that, good advice... but:

There is only one alternative in link group x-www-browser: /usr/bin/iceweasel
Nothing to configure.

Not really sure what I'm doing with adding an alternative, I'll have a look a bit deeper and see if I can figure it.

Thanks anyways.

Re: Setting default browser?

Try this:

sudo update-alternatives --install /usr/bin/x-www-browser x-www-browser /usr/bin/arora 90

Then run "sudo update-alternatives –config x-www-browser"

BTW if you wish to contact me, send me an e-mail instead of a PM.

As usual anonymous, your knowledge is much appreciated, it worked a treat.

Thanks a million, If you're ever 'up north' in the UK I'll buy you a pint!
