Topic: Is it possible to stop network from shutting off on standby? or..

Just wondering if it is possible to stop the network from turning off when i go to standby?
I wait almost 30 seconds for my network to startup on boot, and standby..
Love the distro, but i wait longer for my network manager to start and connect than my actual OS!

Any way to speed up this process or stop it completely?

I once installed gentoo. It asked me for a sacrifice and would not install itself unless I gave him my neighbor's first born and my best bottle of Whiskey.  -Awebb 2011

The problem isn't that the network shuts off on standby, your just looking for a work-around to a slow connection to your network.
For the record, standby doesn't work in a way that thats possible. The best you could do would be to setup the power management such that it turns off the display, and put everything to 'max battery life'. But thats not really standby/sleep.

What you should really try and do though, is speed up the time it takes to connect to your network. It is worthwhile to search the ubuntu /and other linux/ forums for whichever network adapter you have. It might also be a case of your router being very old.

You could also attempt to use wicd instead of network-manager, if perhaps that is the problem.
