Re: Should the Lite edition be scrapped in favour of 64bit?

Hello semko and welcome smile

My only problem with it was that when removing an app it said that it was a part of the cruncbang meta-package. Hope this is not the case with the new version.

Hopefully you will be pleased to read that I have altered the build scripts and this is no longer an issue smile Thanks for showing your interest in the lite version, it appears I underestimated how many people would like it. Doh!

Hope to see you around the forums some more! Cheers.

Re: Should the Lite edition be scrapped in favour of 64bit?

I would like to see a 64bit #! edition (with 64bit flash).

Re: Should the Lite edition be scrapped in favour of 64bit?

I would personally prefer to see a lite edition rather than a 64-bit edition, though my AMD64 would handle very well a 64-bit edition. big_smile

Re: Should the Lite edition be scrapped in favour of 64bit?

This is a tough one for me. On my old machine (a 1.8Ghz/512MB laptop), I installed 8.04 lite. It was hawesome, the most perfectest distro I've used yet. Minimal, but featured.

But now, I have a 64 bit intrepid machine (dual 2Ghz/2GB). Which makes me want a 64bit #!.

So I'm pretty torn.  I suppose I'd like to see the 64 bit version first--mostly b/c it just opens up more machines to #!, whereas the Lite version just makes things a bit easier.

Tough choice wink

Re: Should the Lite edition be scrapped in favour of 64bit?

I'd like a 64-bit version more than the Lite version, but I'm just looking for an excuse to get into 64-bit linux the next time I do a Linux install on a machine. Crunchbang would make it a twofer, I'm interested in trying it out off of a VM. (Still like having it as a VM - it's installed on the family Vista computer as my own little sanctuary when I fullscreen it. Well, it would be if I could get the resolution working right, but it's still nice.)

Re: Should the Lite edition be scrapped in favour of 64bit?

I vote for the 64-bit system.

By the way, just started using #!crunchbang.  Great work!

Re: Should the Lite edition be scrapped in favour of 64bit?

Thank you to everyone for showing your support for both versions. The first release candidate for the "Lite" edition is now available. The 64bit edition will hopefully arrive in due course. Seeing as it looks like both editions will be released, I have closed this thread.

Thank you again for your support and feedback. smile
