Nice graphics, keep up the good work big_smile

I did not realize #! CrunchBang needed a logo.
I figured the #! was the image for CrunchBang, otherwise I would have been more involved with creating some graphics for #! big_smile

What is stopping you now?

the #! is still the 'official' logo, but there are many others being made every day.

I consider that '#! CRUNCHBANG LINUX', as it appears on the top of this website, is the official logo, with the light Helvetica '#!' being an official shorthand. I love the minimalism and hope this never gets diluted.

Re: Crunchbang Ninja-fied! :)

I think that 'fan art' is a great way to foster community support. But as I hope everyone realizes, this was not done with the idea of creating an official anything. I just have fun playing around with symbols ideas and concepts. I have several other ideas involving the #! symbols.. only some of which involve ninjas. wink Maybe my suggestion of refining the ninja gave the wrong indication. Also, my suggestion that people take and improve upon it might also be misleading. I figure that the Artwork forum is a place to develop and collaborate on artwork ideas, not just a place to show finalized wallpapers and graphics (though it is that too).

I wonder if at some point #! would go with a free font instead. Don't get me wrong, I like Helvetica, but it's a shame that we can't get something GPL'd to work. Nimbus Sans L comes close to Helvetica in many ways but they don't have a light version.

I figure that way to. I've really been enjoying watching this thread grow this week smile

I don't think there's any confusion over it's purpose or intent, just keep em coming big_smile

Re: Crunchbang Ninja-fied! :)

Maybe a thin font like labtop?

#! using the Labtop font at dafont

Helvetica is a typeface with a rich history. The design community is very much split into either love/hate camps over this pretty unassuming font. For me, I love it, and the font has come to stand for a lot of what #! stands for in my mind: You may or may not like it, but it's making a statement. It's simple and plain, but has style and heritage. It may look boring, but used by those in the know it can work wonders.

Plus Helvetica Neuve is actually pretty elegant.

That's not a bad font, and it's nice that it's available in a lot of variations! I didn't bother to find the license, but I'm sure you're aware that free in cost doesn't always equal free to use. wink

I also like Quicksand for #! work.
