From Zwopper concept : Crunch Bang ==> Crunch Bang ==> Cr B ==> Kr B ==> Kuro Batsu (which can be shortened as Kuro as a nickname) wich is written 黒罰 in Japanese and can be translated into Black Sentence or Black Punishment
IMHO, this fits pretty much with the Ninja theme and the black overhall color of the distrib.

For a ninja, shouldn't it perhaps be a dark background behind him. So he 'blends' in. I suppose if you took that to the extreme you'd get a black screen with a pair of eyes looking out at you! Loving the kilt and sporan though!

I took the liberty of doing a quick simple pirate draft. Excuse the poor quality just installed Gimp and I'm not very familiar with image editing tbh.

I cleaned it up a little bit. But until I've done some reading on the usage of WINE I think this is the best I'm going to do for while on that draft I'll probably tinker around for a while anyhow and see if I can do some other stereotypes perhaps. Any advice you can give me on image editing and guides would be greatly appreciated

Thanks. I'll sort the transparency and stuff when I'm sitting down with my laptop again and got some time over. I just noticed that the white shines through in some places if you watch the picture online. :S

Anyone with more experience that wants to make a different version? I thought perhaps a whole family of crunchbangers? like a pirate/ninja/viking/samurai/lumberjack/yourself/ballerina/terrorist/etc

Take him out of the plaid, and you've got my nomination for this as the official splash screen

I think for a splash screen in lower-end comps, the simple monochrome pic of (Kuro? If that's his name) could be used instead, as well :3
