===== Alternative Installation =====
There is an alternative method available for installing CrunchBang Linux. Basically, the alternative installation method involves preparing a "CLI" installation of Ubuntu, before downloading a shell script which will download and install all the packages and customisations needed to transform the system into CrunchBang Linux.
**Note:** the 9.04.01 build script is capable of building both Standard and Lite editions of CrunchBang in both 32-bit and 64-bit guises.
The script can be found at:\\
http://crunchbanglinux.org/build-scripts/
The script needs to be run as root. It is not recommended that the script be run from a full Ubuntu installation, at least, I have not attempted this myself. If you want to give the script a try, follow the instructions below.
**1.** Prepare a "CLI" only installation of Ubuntu. I find that using the [[https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/MinimalCD|Ubuntu MinimalCD]] is best for this.
**2.** Download the script with the following command:
wget http://crunchbanglinux.org/build-scripts/crunchbang-installer-9.04.01.sh
**3.** Make the script executable with the following command:
chmod +x crunchbang-installer-9.04.01.sh
**4.** Run the script as root with the following command:
sudo ./crunchbang-installer-9.04.01.sh
**5.** Follow the on-screen instructions and reboot when finished.
